The Common Ground on the Hill Traditions Week II of folk arts & music workshops runs from today through Friday at McDaniel College in Westminster MD. The festival is Saturday and Sunday at the Carroll County Farm Museum featuring Hot Tuna, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Guy Davis, Professor Louie & the Crowmatix, Revillions! from Québec, Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble, and more. 410-857-2771

The Baltimore Folk Music Society sponsors English Country Dance every Monday at St. Marks on the Hill on Reisterstown Road and American Contra and Square Dancing every Wednesday at the Lovely Lane Church on St. Paul St. The BFMS Open Sing is the second Tuesday of the month at Bertha’s in Fells Point. On Friday, there is a monthly open mic at The Friendly Coffeehouse at Calvary Baptist Church inTowson co-hosted by Meg Banter and Rick Millman. Friday through Sunday is the Red Wing Roots Music Festival hosted by The Steel Wheels at Natural Chimneys Park in Mt. Solon, VA. Headliners include Trampled By Turtles, The Devil Makes Three, Hayes Carll, Tim O’Brien, Darrell Scott, The Steel Wheels, Peter Rowan, Pokey LaFarge and Sarah Jarosz. 40 bands on four stages.

Saturday is Folk Music Night at Perry Hall United Methodist Church on Belair Road from 7:00-10:00 pm. There’s an open mic, and featured guest Bob Sima. 410-529-7176
